Video Therapy

What you can expect from therapy via video

Therapy via video can be seen as similar to meeting in person, as we can see each other through the computer screen. We would meet on Zoom, which is a secure and encrypted video calling service.

What do I need to engage in therapy via video?

• Access to a reliable computer or smart device and internet connection.

• The ability to use your computer or smart device for video conferencing (you may already be comfortable using platforms such as WhatsApp, Skype, Facetime etc).

• A private space where you can be undisturbed and not overheard for the duration of the therapy session.

I’m interested, how do I get started?

Please contact me on 07900 997 933 or info@changesonlinetherapy.co.uk. I will ask you to provide some basic information and read and agree to a therapist-client contract. You will then be offered an appointment at a time that suits you. We will use the first session to further explore what has led you to seek therapy and to discuss whether or not online therapy seems suitable to meet your needs. If we decide to go ahead with therapy, a further appointment will be offered and we will commence therapy.

Email Therapy

What you can expect from therapy via email

Therapy via email can be seen as similar to writing a letter that tells someone what you are thinking and feeling. It gives you time and space to consider what you would like to share and to take things at your own pace. We would agree an 'appointment time', which would usually be the same day for each exchange. This means that we would agree a day for you to send your email to me and I would reply to your email on an agreed day, 2 days later. For example, we might agree that you would email me on a Tuesday and I would reply on a Thursday. In order to keep our communication secure, we would use an encrypted email service for sending and receiving emails. I currently use Protonmail, which is a free email provider and I can talk you through how to access it.

What do I need to engage in therapy via email?

• A reliable computer and internet connection.

• Usually you would enjoy/feel comfortable with writing and find it easy to express your thoughts and feelings using the written word.

• A private space where you will be undisturbed for the duration of writing your emails and reading my replies, in addition to a private Protonmail email account that cannot be accessed by others (We can discuss setting this up).

• Enough time to read and respond to my email. You would need to take time to consider what I have written and think about what it means for you. Usually you would then spend up to an hour writing your response (of up to 1000 words), setting aside time to do this.

• You will need to be able to cope with the time delay in me responding to what you have written.

You then be asked to open a Protonmail account and to complete an initial contact form, in order to consider whether or not email therapy seems suitable to meet your needs. If we decide to go ahead with therapy, we will agree which days of the week we will exchange emails and how often.
